Meet Founder: Tryg "Jake" Jacobson

My name is Tryg "Jake" Jacobson, founder of Jake's StrongGinger.

Long before I bottled my first batch of ginger juice, I spent decades building businesses, mentoring entrepreneurs, and helping companies grow. Innovation and entrepreneurship have been central themes throughout my career, including my work supporting entrepreneurs through Lakeland University. The inspiration for Jake's StrongGinger, however, came from someone much closer to home—my father, Frank "Jake" Jacobson.

Growing up during the Great Depression on a Wisconsin farm, my dad believed that many of life's challenges could be met with hard work, simple living, and the healing gifts found in nature. During his travels around the world, he developed a deep appreciation for ginger and its long history as a natural wellness ingredient. His adventurous spirit and genuine love for helping others eventually inspired both the name and the mission of Jake's StrongGinger.

Years later, I faced a health challenge of my own.

For years I struggled with severe acid reflux that often woke me during the night. Like many people, I depended on prescription medication to control the symptoms, but I continued searching for a more natural solution.

That search brought me back to ginger.

I began experimenting with fresh organic Peruvian ginger and whole organic lemons, carefully developing a steeping process that preserved the flavor, essential oils, and natural character of the ingredients. Batch after batch, I refined the recipe until it became the product our customers enjoy today.

As I incorporated it into my daily routine, my reflux improved dramatically. Friends and family began asking if they could purchase some for themselves, and what started in my own kitchen gradually grew into Jake's StrongGinger.

We continue to use only fresh USDA Organic Peruvian ginger, whole organic lemons—including the peels—and purified water. We never use preservatives, artificial colors, citric acid, or unnecessary additives because we believe simple ingredients create a better product.

My Christian faith has also shaped how I approach business. I believe we are called to serve others with integrity, generosity, and excellence. Jake's StrongGinger is simply one expression of those values.
