Jake grew up on a small farm outside Stevens Point, Wisconsin, during the Great Depression. Life demanded resilience and self-sufficiency. His family relied on natural remedies for everyday ailments and farm injuries, shaping his lifelong belief that nature could support healing and well-being.
Simple living, practical wisdom and care for others stayed with him for life.
SERVICE & ADVENTURE
FROM THE PARATROOPERS TO A WIDER WORLD.
Eager to serve his country, Jake enlisted in the paratroopers and completed a tour of duty in France. After returning home, his curiosity pulled him toward new cultures, landscapes and traditions. Travel became another way to learn, connect and understand how people cared for themselves around the world.
He carried strength with him, but never lost his generosity or humor.
THE GOLDEN ROOT
A DISCOVERY ON THE TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU.
On a rugged trail toward Machu Picchu, Jake encountered a twisted golden ginger root that locals described as a miracle cure. The moment deepened his appreciation for ginger and the natural traditions surrounding it. Friends and family would later know him for practical remedies, encouragement and regular ginger use.
One root became part of a legacy that would reach far beyond the trail.
